CANDIDATE FOR SECRETARY
Campaign Statement:
My name is Jenarald Scott Wilbon and I am seeking election for Secretary of MKFF. I am a lifelong
resident of New Orleans and Mardi Gras is deeply embedded in my soul. I am a Food Service Director
employed with Elior North America for 29 years. I have a staff of 20, and I am responsible for overall
Unit Operations, payroll, hiring, training, and menu systems. I am the first African American woman
hired with Elior to serve as Food Service Director for a company with over 200 male Directors. My
educational background includes a Degree in Business Studies and certifications in both Paralegal
Studies and Food Safety. I am the Administrator of Life In The Word Church where I have been a
member since 2007. It is at Life In The Word Church where I discovered my purpose to serve Gods
people. Serving people is by far my most passionate attribution. I was inducted to MKFF in 2014 and
have found pleasure riding in every parade since the Inaugural ride in 2015. I took my oath seriously and
on day one, I rolled up my sleeves, and asked "What can I do to help?" I am currently the Float
Lieutenant for Femme Essence with a Krewe of 105 beautiful, smart, and talented ladies. I am also
Parade Committee Co- Chair and have been entrusted with leading the Signature Throws subcommittee
with the careful designing of new Signature Parade Throws. This Committee has implemented new ways
to make the Throws Distribution an easier process. We have designed quality throws that parade goers
and our members are excited about receiving. In 2019, I was excited to witness the swearing in of our
first elected Board of Directors. It was at this induction I decided that someday I would like to move to
the next level of leadership in MKFF. I feel that the board should be transparent, fair, and just for all
members and have their best interests at all times. As a member of the Board of Directors, I would like
to increase communication and promote the most productive ideas and actions that will improve all
members current standings and further growth in the organization. Every person deserves a voice and I
hope to be the voice of the unheard. I feel that I am a fair, positive force that would lend great talents,
understanding, compassion, commitment, and knowledge to this Board. It is my ability to lead as well as
follow that helps to bring a greater sense of completion to many of my team efforts. MKFF has a
wonderful foundation set forth by our Founder, Founding members, and current Board of Directors. It is
my desire to pivot this organization into the future by implementing fresh new ideas, protect the value
of MKFF, continue to support the communities of Greater New Orleans and surrounding areas, and seek
new ways for sustainability. I have a record of accomplishment and I can be counted on to get the job
done. I have demonstrated effective leadership by giving the riders on my Float and members of the
Parade Committee choices and encouraged them to be part of the decision-making processes. Every
member of this organization is important, talented, and has a fresh idea to bring to the table. With your
vote for me, I will work extremely hard to develop your ideas. With your vote for me, WE all WIN. I am a
candidate for the PEOPLE. I am a candidate for YOU. I AM the candidate that will keep the progress
moving. I AM the candidate that will ALWAYS stand up for what is right. I AM the candidate with
experience and ethics. I am the CHANGE WE NEED!
