CANDIDATE FOR CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Campaign Statement:
My name is Shirley Walker, I am campaigning to be the next Chairwoman of the Board. I have been a member of MKFF since September 2014. I am very familiar with the operation of MKFF. I knew I wanted to be a part of a good-solid female organization with community outreach endeavors and social enhancement and bonding. I found this in MKFF when I joined.
I have always been a strong-willed individual that when my mind is set on an endeavor I will take my time to see it through. I never draw an opinion without researching and analyzing. I value obtaining supporting evidence to validate my opinion/belief. This supports my decision-making on any given issue. I feel this avoids addressing the matter twice or making a mistake.
Shortly after joining the Cherchez LaFemme Dance Krewe, I took the initiative to lead the team in preparing for the reveal of the Krewe at MKFF’s Inaugural Reveal Party in 2015. The same year, I was appointed to Co-Lieutenant based on my leadership ability.
The position of Chairwoman of the Board relates closely to my previous work experience as a federal investigator for the U.S. Department of HUD. My former position involved investigating housing discrimination complaints of aggrieved persons. During these investigations, I had to be impartial to the nature of the complaint and could not side with either party involved regarding the alleged allegations. I

conducted investigations to dispute the allegations of the complainants in determining whether the complaint was a “cause" or "no-cause”case.
Since joining MKFF, I have been a member in good standing. I have volunteered when needed to assist the organization in various endeavors. I have been a very active member in the organization as a Co-Lieutenant of the Cherchez Dance Team and member of several committees:
• Community Engagement since 2014
• Social Committee since 2015
• Parade Committee since 2015
• Bylaws Committee since 2019
My Vision Values are as follows:
1. I will always place MKFF Mission, Purpose, and Bylaws first.
2. I will always give my best (staying active and knowledgeable -knowledge is the power).
3. I will strive to be fair, impartial, and transparent in the grievance process and other concerns of the organization.
4. I will strive to not let you down by keeping it real.
MKFF currently is strong in membership numbers. The numbers mean there is a voice. Your voice is heard in the vote. I am asking that you voice your vote for me to be your next Chairwoman of the Board.
Thank you,
Shirley Walker
