CANDIDATE FOR MEMBER-AT-LARGE
Campaign Statement:
Greetings Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale Members,
My name is Margo Hurston-Peavy and I'm excited to announce my candidacy for a Member-at-Large position on the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale Board of Directors. I'm looking forward to working harmoniously with other board members, and the membership, to continue the work of making this a premiere Mardi Gras krewe and civic organization for women in the city of New Orleans.
For those of you who don't know me, I have been affiliated with the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale since 2014 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a member, co-lieutenant, and active participant on several organizational committees. I have a loving spouse, who I have been married to for 21 years, and two beautiful children. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, traveling, reading, crafting, and fellowshipping (with a cause) with femmes of MKFF and sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale board members must know how to lead, plan and understand the budget, manage the organization's finances, membership, and wares. They also must have exceptional time management skills with the ability to multi-task while paying attention to details, know how to plan and execute a parade, gala and other social and civic events, deal with disputes, listen to membership, and discuss and carryout ideas in a fair and impartial manner.
I believe I can bring a fresh, balanced outlook to the board. My background in government, coupled with my years of membership with MKFF and other civic organizations, make me the best candidate for the job. I know what this position entails and believe I have the necessary experience and attributes to do it well. I am also very enthusiastic, meticulous, and give my all to every job that I am given.
Some of my goals as Board Member-at-Large include:
1. Advocate for a board that supports and is fair and impartial to its membership. 2. Represent the interest of the membership and implement a system that promotes transparency.
3. Work with committee members to complete revisions to the current MKFF bylaws with amendments that are more conducive to the organization and the members that it serves.
4. Ensure that all float krewes are treated equally and lieutenants have the resources and support that they need to thrive (including the implementation of a leadership program for future lieutenants and organizational leaders).
5. Serve as a liaison between the Board of Directors and its general membership to address overall organizational goals.
My record exemplifies passionate, self-driven advocacy on behalf of the membership. I care about your interest in this organization and your voice as members. It is the voice of the membership that will successfully sustain the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale for generations to come. If you agree with my goals, I humbly ask for your prayers and your vote in the next Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale Board of Directors election. Thank you!
